Bible study can be the best part of your day; it’s a time to reflect, pray, and strengthen your relationship with God. But when you’re staying at home to comply with social distancing guidelines, you may need to take studying into your own hands. Follow the tips below to stay consistent and focused in your study at home.

A Guide to Successful Bible Study at Home

1. Use a Notebook

Use a journal while you study. Each day, take notes on your thoughts or verses you want to remember during your session. Writing ideas down will clarify your thoughts and ensure you don’t forget any realizations you had. When you start your next session, looking at what you wrote the day before can help guide you on where to pick up again.

2. Have a Purpose

bibleGoing into your study with a purpose will help you get more out of it. If there’s an issue you’re struggling with, such as a tough decision, then go into the session with the goal of seeking guidance. Write down the questions you have or a piece of doctrine you’d like to learn more about. While focusing on your objective, you may come across possible answers during your reading.

3. Study With Others

Bible study is rewarding both on your own and in a group, so try to do both. Reading scripture with your family and discussing it afterward will teach your children to love the Word while you grow closer. Some churches offer virtual study groups, which can start a lively discussion in which others may share insights you may not have on your own. Quiet reflection and prayer afterward can allow you to focus on your own relationship with God.
