If you own or manage a business, cleanliness plays an integral role in the health, comfort, and appearance of your commercial space. In addition to dusting and disinfecting floors and surfaces, it’s crucial that you keep your storefront glass and windows clean. Here are a handful of tips for cleaning commercial glass.

4 Tips for Washing Commercial Glass

1. Wash

Wash your storefront and multi-pane windows with strip applicators. They have long, soft cloths that soak up plenty of soapy water, cover large areas, and won’t scratch surfaces. Cover the glass with a cleaning solution to break up dirt and debris. Use warm water and a low-suds dishwashing liquid, since suds may leave streaks.

2. Wipe

glassUse a squeegee to remove soapy water from your storefront windows. Begin at the top left corner and pull the tool across the glass in a backward S-shape. For multi-pane windows, use an up-and-down motion. After each stroke, wipe the squeegee blade with a clean cloth, and repeat the process until no water or suds remain.

3. Dry

If any excess moisture remains on the glass, remove it with a chamois. These microfiber cloths thoroughly sop up moisture without leaving streaks. Use a rag to remove moisture from windowsills and pane dividers so that they don’t collect mildew or dry-rot.
