Longer, warmer spring days can be exciting after a cold winter. However, the temperature increase means many types of insects will soon come out of hiding and potentially even make their way into your home. If you're concerned that pest control will be a challenge this season, prepare by reviewing which insects you might see.

Which Bugs Reemerge in Spring?

1. Earwigs

Earwigs are intuitive insects that lay as many as 50 eggs in one cluster. When these clusters hatch and mature in the spring, they can quickly infest your home. While you may find them crawling around just about anywhere, earwigs are especially attracted to dark, moist areas, such as basements and garages.

2. Mosquitoes

These pests lay their eggs before the start of winter in lakes, ponds, and other areas with standing water. Although peak mosquito season is in the summer, the first wave of eggs hatches during the spring when the weather warms up.

3. Wasps

Unlike bees, wasps can be very aggressive. If they feel threatened, they can sting multiple times and may even chase their aggressor. Queen wasps emerge in the spring to begin constructing their nests and forming colonies of up to 50,000 insects. These nests can be found on the sides of houses, in basements, and in sheds. If you find one near your home, call a pest control company that has the right tools and safety equipment to avoid being stung.
