Depression can impact every aspect of your life. If you’re looking toward your faith to help you through this challenging time, the Bible has many lessons. Here are a few verses that will remind you that you’re never alone.

4 Bible Verses to Manage Depression

1. Psalm 40:1-3

“I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.”

Psalm 40:1-3 says that the Lord can always lift you out of the darkest situations. Even when you feel hopeless, you can take comfort in knowing that God hears your prayers.

2. Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to give you hope and a future.”

3. Psalm 42:11

“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.”

Depression can seem never-ending, even when you feel like you’re putting up your best fight. Psalm 42:11 reminds you to put your faith in God. Reading the Bible, attending church, and practicing Christian values will help you better yourself as a person, which may soothe your spirit.

4. Proverbs 12:25

“Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.”

Proverbs 12:25 reminds you to never let depression dictate who you are. Instead, focus on your faith and religious pursuits. Turn to the Bible and church when you’re struggling. Do good works, and surround yourself with those who do the same, and your outlook may steadily become more positive.
