Looking for something special to do this coming Easter? Whether you host an annual egg hunt or put together individual gift baskets, there are plenty of opportunities to get crafty and inspire your kids to get in the spirit of the holiday! Here are a few ideas to consider during your next trip to the fabric store.

3 Easter-Themed Sewing Crafts

1. Treat Bags

Jellybeans and chocolates are popular Easter treats, but they often end up spilling out onto the table or floor once a plastic egg is opened. Try for something a little less messy with colorful treat bags! All you’ll need are a couple of five-inch squares of fabric and 16 inches of ribbon. Cut out the shapes you’ll need for the bags and a couple of bunny ears. Sew the bags together before attaching the bunny ears and a ribbon to the top. Your kids can tie up the bags with the ribbon to keep their candies safe.

2. Ruffled Basket

Pick out a few Easter-themed materials, cut them to size, and hem the edges. Hot glue them around the side of the basket in three separate layers to complete the look. The added designs will make the kids look forward to collecting Easter treasures.

3. Snuggle Bunny

Give your child a stuffed animal friend to accompany them on their Easter adventure with a few pieces of material from the fabric store: a 22-inch by eight-inch cream fleece, a 10-inch by eight-inch pink and cream cotton, a 10-inch by eight-inch cream fleece, additional pink wool felt, and embroidery thread. Cut out both sides of the bunny’s body from the larger cream fleece and the ears from the smaller pieces of material. Sew each of them together and stuff with soft cotton. Use pieces of pink wool felt to create the face and a small heart on the belly.
