An asphalt surface is a great place for children to play and express themselves. Whether it’s a driveway or hardscape in your yard, you’ll find the addition gives them plenty of opportunities. Below, you’ll find a few popular games. Make sure to turn to a paving company to get the best results from the project.

Fun Activities for Asphalt Surfaces

1. Hopscotch

Hopscotch is a timeless game children play across the world, and asphalt makes the perfect surface. Using asphalt chalk, draw a court. It consists of numbers 1-3 stack in boxes, 4-5 side-by-side atop, 6 stacked, 7-8 side-by-side and atop, 9 stacked, and a final half-rounded box atop. The first player throws a stone, called a lucky. They must then hop to the square where it lands on one foot and straddling the 4-5 and 7-8 boxes. If they touch a line, miss a box, or fall, their turn ends.

2. Jump Rope

Asphalt also provides a safe, non-slick surface for jump rope. It can be done with a single rope or double-dutch, and there are numerous games to try. Your child can pair jump roping with rhymes, jump with partners, or play games, like Banana Split or Stack-Up. Jumping rope is an excellent cardio exercise and will ensure your child stays active and healthy.

3. Chalk Art

When they’re finished, the chalk easily washes away with water and won’t leave any permanent marks or impacts on the asphalt.
