Studying is an essential part of building your child’s educational foundation, and having the right environment will encourage this behavior. Something as simple as getting the right children’s desk and supplies can put them on the right path. If you’re wondering how to get your child to settle down and study, discover how these three tips can help them focus on their academics.

3 Tips to Get Your Child to Study

1. Create a Study Station

While your child may be more comfortable on the couch, designating a special area devoted to studying will establish a routine. To build a study space, start by selecting an appropriately sized children’s desk with a comfortable chair. Next, equip it with all the supplies they need like writing utensils, notebooks, and rulers, so when they sit down to complete their work, they don’t need to get up for study materials.

2. Create a Schedule

If they are younger or get distracted more frequently, start with smaller blocks of time, such as 30 minutes of work at their children’s desk and 30 minutes off to have a snack. As they mature, you can increase the time they spend studying.

3. Offer Rewards

Recognizing your child’s hard work will help them continue their good behavior. For younger children, put up a sticker chart to track the time they spend studying and reward them once they reach a certain number of stickers. Their prize can be something as simple as a trip to an ice cream shop or picking a movie to watch on the weekend. For older children, offer extra screen time after studying.
