Leonardo Suzio founded Suzio York Hill as the L. Suzio Construction Company in 1898, just nine years after the construction of the very first reinforced concrete bridge.

As the name suggests, L. Suzio York Hill Construction originally worked on building projects, including Polish Falcon Hall and the Grange Hall in Meriden, as well as high schools, bridges, and other private and state-sponsored projects throughout Connecticut.

The company required enormous quantities of high-quality crushed stone for building roads, so it expanded into the material supply. This opened quarries in Massachusetts and Connecticut, including the Meriden quarry, which is still in operation today. During and after World War II, L. Suzio York Hill Construction expanded further, into asphalt,  and ready-mix concrete products.

Today, L. Suzio York Hill Construction is the leader in materials supply in south central Connecticut, offering asphalt, crushed stone, and ready-mix concrete products. The company uses a modern, computerized dispatch and tracking system to keep its fleet of more than 50 trucks on schedule and on time, delivering throughout south central Connecticut.

L. Suzio York Hill remains a family business, owned and operated by Leonardo Suzio’s children and grandchildren.
