Once again, Mr. Corletta demonstrated his skill in traffic matters; first in getting a Leaving the Scene of an Accident case reduced to a parking violation for an elderly client with no record in People v. BA (Batavia Tn. Ct., 11/20).

In that case, Mr. Corletta’s elderly client was involved in a minor parking lot “fender bender” and didn’t know it. The client was contacted by police several weeks later. The client had no prior criminal history of any kind and was extremely flustered and upset by police contact at his home. The client contacted Mr. Corletta on a weekend, extremely upset.

Mr. Corletta stepped right in, took service of the ticket from the Deputy, contacted the Town Prosecutor, explained the circumstances, and obtained a reduction to a mere parking ticket, which will not go on the client's driving record.

Moreover, the client will not have to appear in Court, thereby alleviating any fear and anxiety.

Separately, Mr. Corletta represented a foreign exchange student in People v. Anonymous (Victor Tn. Ct., 11/20).

There, Mr. Corletta’s client had a foreign driver’s license, which is valid to drive in the State of New York, provided it is valid in the foreign country. The client was charged with a four point Speeding violation.

Mr. Corletta contacted the Assistant District Attorney, a longtime colleague, and explained his client's circumstances, including his unfamiliarity with the area. The Assistant District Attorney agreed to reduce the charge to a mere equipment violation, thereby not impacting the client's insurance, the foreign driver’s license, or the client's ability to obtain a New York license should the client obtain employment and remain in New York.

Needless to say, both of the above clients were extremely grateful for Mr. Corletta's hard work, quick response, and knowledge of the law.
