Nature is a sanctuary, and my garden has been my sanctuary for years. Now that other activities have been curtailed, my garden is my sole sanctuary. I feel better in the garden since I have to slow down, which helps keep me in the moment. Here are some of the benefits of using a beautiful garden design to relax.

4 Benefits of Meditating In Your Garden

1. Encourage Extra Gardening

Gardens show abundance, life, and beauty. My garden grounds me in the here and now, helping me better appreciate the little things while working on my plants. For example, weeding becomes a meditation and gives me a great sense of satisfaction. However, in the summer, weeding in the shade seems to work better. A book I was introduced to early this year, called The Biophilia Effect, by Clemens Arvay, explains the science behind my feeling of well-being in the garden.

2. Relieves Stress While In Nature

Creating a natural area for yourself will help with stress, lower your blood pressure, and improve creativity. This can be a large outdoor space or a small area in a room in your home. However, while outside is better and provides ample natural light, even adding plants to your office can make a difference to your brain, such as the ability to deal with stress, learn, and be more resilient.

3. Provides a Great Atmosphere

In your garden, you want to think about different areas, create destinations, and consider different resting places with different vibes. When you add seating, it could be a stump, a swing, or a bench. Your relaxing space could be where you go to enjoy a drink like your morning coffee or a glass of wine. Give yourself something to look at close up or something to smell.

Create a path, as walking barefoot on stepping stones has been found to build new neuropathways in the brain. Rocks, stones, and boulders also add texture, and some say they are female energy in the garden since they are dynamic and strong.

4. Allows You to Focus

Look for different shaped leaves, explore shades of green, and observe the structure of plants and their bloom times. Think about birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, or edibles. Finally, add something in the distance for a longer view, and then you have your next destination for a garden design.
