Vehicle wraps are one of the best ways to provide name recognition and publicity for your business. However, they need to be maintained properly, especially during the fall and winter months. Here are some vehicle maintenance tips that will keep your car wrap in perfect condition.

How to Care for Your Vehicle Wrap This Winter

1. Wash the Car Regularly

Get your car washed weekly to remove any grime, dirt, and salt from the wrap. Salt can dehydrate and corrode the material, and grime and dirt can permanently discolor it.

If you notice residue between car washes, you can use a hose to remove the debris. Keep the water warm—but not hot—since extreme temperature changes could crack the windshield. Don’t use any harsh cleaners to scrub your vehicle, as this can make damage worse.

2. Utilize Covered Parking

This will keep the vehicle warm and protect the wrap from severe weather. If you have to park your car in an uncovered spot, stay away from trees where snow, ice, or branches can fall and damage your windshield, car, or wrap.

3. Fix Holes & Scratches ASAP

Small holes or scrapes in your vehicle wrap may not seem like a big deal, but they can worsen over time. Getting them fixed early on can prevent costly or extensive future repairs. Get your wrap touched up as soon as possible to keep it in great condition.

4. Don’t Use a Scraper

It may be tempting to use an ice scraper on your wrapped auto glass or even on the body of your car. However, this can easily scratch the vinyl, requiring expensive repairs. Instead, use a soft cloth or brush to get rid of snow.

If you’re dealing with ice, make a de-icing spray using two parts 70% isopropyl alcohol and one part water. You can spray it on your windshield and quickly remove any ice or snow in the morning without having to break out the ice scraper.
