Have you ever wondered how often you should have your septic tank pumped, and why?  Well, as State Licensed professionals, we are given guidelines to pass along to our customers.  They recommend that a septic tank be pumped every 3-4 years.  A septic tank is a separator, which holds the solids and sludge, while the liquid leaches out into your leach field.  The septic tank can only hold so much before it is forced out into your leaching, which will clog up your leaching.  The best maintenance for your septic system is to have it pumped out and cleaned regularly.

There are some factors that you need to take under consideration that can alter your personal home schedule.  The number of people that live at the home can alter your personal pumping schedule.  If you live by yourself, you can probably go a little longer, while a family of 5 might want to consider cleaning the septic sooner, as it will get more usage with more people.  Also an older septic system, you may want to get your septic pumping done sooner as well.

If you are unsure of how often you should get your septic system pumped, the septic professionals at ABRAHAMSON SEPTIC LLC can help you determine your personal septic cleaning schedule.
