Customized facials go beyond typical skin cleansing and toning. The spa treatments deep-clean pores, eliminate dead skin cells, and address issues like fine lines and acne. Learn more about what to expect from facials below to keep your skin glowing.

What to Expect

The spa treatment typically starts with an interview about your skin to determine whether it’s oily, dry, or combination and what issues you experience. Before the facial, the aesthetician will cleanse your skin to remove makeup, oil, and environmental pollutants, then apply steam to open up your pores.

customized facialsExfoliation comes next to slough off dead skin cells that clog pores and contribute to a dull look. Next, the aesthetician will extract whiteheads and blackheads with either gloved hands or sanitized metal tools.

Facials also include massages that promote blood circulation in the face and customized masks based on skin type and care needs. The mask remains on for 30 to 60 minutes while you relax. Toner, serum, and moisturizer application complete the spa treatment.

Different Types

Customized facials come in many forms, such as brightening facials that use acid treatments and enzyme peels to remove dead, dull skin cells.

Hydrating facial masks contain humectants, or moisturizing ingredients that extract water from the air to plump the top skin layer.

Microdermabrasion facials apply micronized crystals with a pressurized jet to eliminate dead cells and reveal younger-looking skin.

Facials that treat acne may involve sulfur masks to dry out existing blemishes and prevent new pimples from forming.

LED facials, or those that use LED lights, also treat acne and inflammation.

There’s also the standard facial that involves cleansing, extracting, mask application, massage, toning, and moisturizing.
