Whether after a long period of storage or a day of work, cleaning your tractor helps you get the most out of your equipment. Mud, oil, debris, and other substances must be removed regularly to reduce the need for unexpected tractor repair. Here are a few ways to keep the vehicle in excellent condition.

How to Clean Your Tractor

1. Remove Dirt & Debris

Use an old brush or rag to remove dust, plant debris, twigs, and other detritus. To clear hard-to-reach areas like the undercarriage, use a leaf blower set at a low to moderate speed. Removing debris will reduce the chances that it works its way into moving parts or fuel lines, protecting you from costly tractor repairs.

2. Wash External Surfaces

If you choose the power-washer, be cautious when spraying near the exposed mechanical components, as water getting into the engine can dilute fluids and create rust. After washing, carefully rinse and dry the cleaned areas.

3. Wax Painted Areas

Even though a tractor is a workhorse, you may like to keep yours looking neat and presentable with a wax coat. This will also protect the paint from scratches, fading, and abrasions, lowering the risk of rust and maintaining the resale value. Ordinary automotive wax will work well for this task.

4. Wipe Down the Interior

Finally, climb into the cab and use a damp rag to wipe the interior down from top to bottom. You can use an old toothbrush to knock loose any caked-on dirt on the dashboard, and be sure to get in between seat cushions to remove any hidden dust. Use a Shop-Vac® to clear away any grime or debris on the floor.
