Rutty roads, potholes, and curbs can cause wheel alignment issues. More often than not, this problem tends to go overlooked. Unfortunately, neglecting your wheel alignment can result in a variety of issues, affecting your tires and the ability to steer your vehicle safely. Here are some signs that your wheels are misaligned.

How to Identify Wheel Alignment Issues

1. Your Vehicle Pulls to One Side

Most roads have a natural curve or crown that might make your car drift slightly to one side or the other. However, if you're experiencing this often, or while driving down a straight or level road, you may have an alignment issue.

A properly aligned vehicle will drive straight ahead with little pull on the steering wheel. Noticeable pulling is a telltale sign you need a wheel alignment.

2. Abnormal Tire Wear

tiresWhile tires experience wear and tear every time you drive, poor alignment can cause them to wear differently. Misalignment causes certain parts of the tires to contact the ground more frequently, resulting in uneven wear, leaks, and even blowouts. If you notice excess wear in some areas and not others, it may be time to check the alignment.

3. Your Steering Wheel Feels Loose

Your vehicle's handling system transmits the movement of the steering wheel down the shaft to move the wheels left and right. When the wheels are out of alignment, the response time is decreased, resulting in additional movement of the steering wheel. If the handling feels loose or unstable, especially around turns, have the alignment checked and corrected if necessary.
