COVID-19 has taken a toll on many families across the world. If you’ve been struggling physically, emotionally, or financially—or all of the above—it’s natural to feel like you’ve been abandoned by God. With help from a local Baptist church, though, it may be possible to find your faith again.

Why Crisis Prompts Many to Lose Their Faith

While some people find comfort in their faith during times of turmoil, many others struggle with their beliefs. If you believe that God’s guiding hands play a role in everyday life, for example, you might wonder how He could let tragedy strike. Or perhaps you feel as though He’s punishing you—or maybe those around you—for sinful acts, and you no longer find it fair.

What’s more, the current crisis has forced many to essentially “play God.” At the height of the pandemic, healthcare workers around the globe were forced to triage their patients. It was up to them to decide who received prompt care and who didn’t, which can be unsettling for anyone regardless of their belief system.

How to Restore Your Faith During Times of Stress

baptist churchAlthough it’s certainly understandable why many lose their faith during hard times, turning to God could provide much-needed relief. Faith can serve as a source of comfort by providing hope. Every religion includes stories about overcoming seemingly insurmountable hurdles, for example, which you can draw strength and inspiration from when you’re feeling especially down. If you’re unfamiliar with such stories, try attending a worship service at a Baptist church. Praying at home can also help strengthen your faith if you feel it slipping away.

Finally, make an active effort to connect with others. We’re all in this together, and that’s perhaps the most comforting aspect of all. Reach out to friends, loved ones, colleagues, and members of your church. Offer to help them, and be receptive to any help they offer you. Coming together during times of crisis is a surefire way to remember that all is not lost, and God is still looking out for us.
