On your wedding day, a flawed smile can make you self-conscious and blemish pictures that are taken of you. Fortunately, your dental clinic can help restore your smile before the big day, putting you at ease and restoring your confidence. Below are several ways your clinic can boost the appearance of your smile.

How a Dental Clinic Can Enhance Your Smile Before Your Wedding

1. Teeth Whitening

A yellowed smile will be noticeable if you’re wearing white. Professional teeth whitening is done using a peroxide solution—sometimes cured with UV light—that breaks down stains on your teeth. Minor stains can be treated in one in-office session, while deeper stains may require one or two appointments over a month or more. To be safe, it’s best to schedule your consultation at least 6-8 weeks before your wedding so your smile is ready in time.

2. Veneers

A veneer is a thin piece of porcelain that covers the front of your tooth to hide small chips, cracks, stains, and gaps. Veneers are designed to match your other teeth, and they can usually be placed in less than a month. The process involves removing a small amount of enamel, taking an impression of the tooth, fitting it with a temporary veneer, and then having the permanent one placed when it’s ready.

Some dentists may be able to do this all in one day. You should schedule your consultation at least six weeks in advance in case more time is needed, and so you can adjust to the feeling of it before photos.

3. Crowns

dental clinicA crown will cover all of the tooth above the gumline and is made from materials like ceramic or porcelain. They restore teeth that are misshapen, spaced, heavily stained, or damaged by decay or trauma, and prevent further damage. Crowns can take up to six weeks to be placed, so be sure to schedule an appointment over a month in advance. The process is similar to a veneer, with enamel being removed, an impression being taken, and then a crown being crafted and cemented in place.

4. Implants

Dental implants take the place of a missing tooth. They consist of a titanium post that adheres to your jawbone and a crown that’s placed on top to resemble a natural tooth.  The post is placed first, then allowed to heal before the crown is placed.

The process can take up to 6 months, depending on how long it takes for your jawbone to bond with the post, and if you need a bone graft to support it. If you’re able to, schedule your dentist consultation as soon as possible.
