Many people look for ways to increase the fullness of their lips to create more of a pouty appearance. Aestheticians offer two popular options: lip blushing tattoos or injectable fillers. Here is a little more information about both options to help you decide what’s best for you.

Fillers

Fillers are typically made from hyaluronic acid and may come in brand names like Juvéderm® and Restylane®. The fillers plump up the lips, making them appear fuller and poutier.

Because fillers are injected into the lip tissue, they should only be placed by medical professionals or certified aestheticians who can monitor for complications, like allergic reactions. Lip fillers typically last six to nine months

Lip Blushing Tattoos

These tattoos are designed to make your lips look fuller without physically changing their shape or size.

lip blushing tattooAfter sterilizing the surface of the lips, an aesthetician uses medical-grade liners to map out an ideal outline. A darker shade outlines the border of the lips, while white indicates the parts that will be left lighter. Creating a darker edge, a light interior, and a medium-toned inner edge makes the lips look fuller. This physical mapping is adjusted until the client is happy with the look, then the permanent tattoo is placed in similar colors.

Blushing lip tattoos are minimally invasive, don’t require any injections, and stay in place for as long as five years. Since the tattoo pigment is deposited below the skin, you won’t have to rely on lipstick unless you want to mix up the color.
