A boiler offers a convenient and economical heating option for homeowners. It delivers warmed water or steam throughout the home, providing constant comfort in the process. If you’re interested in installing a new boiler, it’s crucial to select a location near gas lines, water lines, a ventilation source, and an electrical outlet. Here are three options to consider.

Where to Install a Household Boiler

1. Bathroom

Storing the device in the bathroom allows you to easily hide it away in a cabinet. Plus, the water in the bathroom will heat up quickly.

However, there must be enough clearance around the boiler, so it can be properly maintained or repaired as needed. There also needs to be space to install the flue for proper ventilation.

Take special precautions to prevent the device from getting wet too; it shouldn’t be anywhere near the bathtub or shower.

2. Attic

boilerIf you have an empty attic or unused loft, it may be an ideal place to house the boiler and pipes that you’d rather keep out of sight. The space must allow for proper ventilation of the condensation and combustion gases, and there should be sufficient access to the gas and water lines. You’ll also need to account for space for when a technician needs to repair or service the appliance.

3. Kitchen

The kitchen is a common place to store a new boiler, so long as there’s appropriate ventilation for combustion and enough room for providers to access the device. There must be enough space between the boiler and the cabinet—it shouldn’t be so large that it overwhelms the space and impedes air circulation. If space is limited, you may be able to find a more compact model.
