Joint pain and soreness effects everyone at one time or another. Its just life’s normal wear and tear on your body letting you know you might want to let your body cool down. Sometimes you don’t have a choice and have to fight through the pain to complete or start tasks. Pain and soreness can occur at any given time. Everyone has been there from stepping the wrong way to a doing quick jerking motion while lifting things. The insignificant movements and stress we put on ourselves that usually get ignored can actually help ease joint pain instead of encouraging it. There are many different fairly easy ways of getting rid of and easing joint pain such as eating correct foods, hydration and changing your workout.

When Food Comes to the Rescue

Joint pain and soreness comes from a ton of different things. What happens sometimes is that your joints become inflamed or swollen due to overuse or just doing things wrong. A way we can defend against this is having a proper diet. Eating foods filled with anti-inflammatory nutrients can assist in having better joint health. Foods like nuts, fruits, certain fish, green leafy vegetables are rich in natural polyphenols and antioxidants which fight inflammation. An alternative to food is taking supplements or vitamins such as Fish Oil which contain fatty acids (Omega 3) that is crucial to overall health.

Hydration Filtration

The human body is made up of about 60% water. Water flows through all aspect of our body. Our organs, skin and bones are filled with water and need an abundance of it to function correctly. People tend to drink other beverages such as soft drinks. This can lead to problems if your primary drink is soda or something similar. Water is a natural lubricant for joints, it can flush our system of waste and help regulate our body temperature. Not drinking enough water can leave you sluggish and joints hurt. To avoid this make water a primary drink that you consume almost regularly.

No Pain No Gain

The phrase “No Pain No Gain” is an extremely misleading motto. What this refers to is the soreness in your muscles a day or two after working out. This shouldn’t refer to the pain you receive in the joints. Nine times out of ten joint pain while working out is caused by doing things incorrectly. Whether your weight load was too high causing you to break form, having bad form or even the type of surface you used. Weight causes stress on all your muscle and joints included. There are reasons that lifting forms exist and if you are unsure on how to do them consult a specialist or research how to do things. Secondly, if your form is bad always start a lower weight or no weight at all until you are able to preform the exercise the right way. Thirdly, the type of surface matters when doing exercises. Working out on concrete is not the most recommended surface to use. It is hard, stiff unforgiving surface that could cause all types of problems depending on what the workout is. Concrete is usually involved in developing stress fractures, shin splits and can cause discomfort from the foot to the neck. Try working out in grass or some soft/rubber type of surface where it is less stress on the joints. Lastly, maybe your workout is too much for your body to handle at the time. Change to a lower impact workout and work your way up.

All in all, joint pain is no joke. It is something that will immediately effect your life. There are many other reasons on why it occurs like being overweight, injured often, aging or if your body alignment is off. Luckily enough there are just as many ways to fend off joint pain by going out getting sun, water therapy, seeing a chiropractor and knowing your body limit at that time. See a doctor if the pain is too great for you to handle or if you have underlying conditions to see what you can do at that moment in time. Always work to strive to be better and reach a greater goal.
