Do:

Maintain them. 

Caring for your lashes, both the natural and artificial fibers will help your extensions look better for longer. Clean the extensions a couple of times a week with a foaming lash cleanser. Use a formula specially formulated for synthetic fibers or use baby shampoo.

After washing, apply an eyelash serum or conditioner on your natural lashes to strengthen them and use a sealant to keep the extensions anchored. Brush daily with a makeup wand. 

Refill regularly. 

Extensions are not a permanent fixture. Like natural lashes, they will fall out over time. Extensions typically last one or two weeks before they start to shed. Visit the salon every two or three weeks for a refill; be sure to book appointments ahead of time to ensure your eyes always look their best. 

Don’t:

Get them wet. 

Lash extensions are attached to the natural lashes with an adhesive. Moisture can reactivate the glue, causing the lash extensions to loosen or clump. Avoid getting them wet by washing your face, taking a shower, or going to the gym for 24 to 48 hours after your appointment. If they do get wet, use a hairdryer on a cool setting or fan them with your hands to dry them. 

Touch them excessively. 

It may be tempting to play with your new lash extensions but resist the urge. Twisting or pulling them can damage your natural lashes and the synthetic ones and may loosen the adhesive.

If a false lash seems to fall out of place, let it come naturally rather than tugging at it. Don’t try to remove your lashes yourself, either. A technician will remove loose fibers and replace those that have fallen out at your next touch-up.
