For Greg Colina, owner of Old World Plastering in Cincinnati, ornamental restoration and historic preservation is a calling and a passion. He is dedicated to superior craftsmanship, and he truly enjoys working with customers to fulfill their dreams. For Colina, it’s not a job, but an opportunity to create or reveal beauty.

When he was just starting out, Colina worked in the drywall business. While he was a talented workman, Colina felt that he should be working on a higher artistic level and became fascinated with plastering. Fortunately, a family friend had the expertise and the time to teach Colina the basics of the art form.

A cursory knowledge of plastering only fueled Colina’s interest and spurred him on to learn more about the field of ornamental restoration. He became fascinated with the concept that an ornamental design created a century ago could be restored to its former glory. Colina wanted to know everything about the process and techniques. His first step on the journey was to read every book on ornamental restoration that he could find, particularly 100-year-old books from England. Colina spent a great deal of time reading and researching until he felt confident in his growing knowledge.

One of Colina’s earliest projects involved him removing a suspended ceiling, exposing gorgeous ornamental work that been hidden underneath for years. The owner did not even know that there was such magnificent work to be found! Of course, she was delighted, and Colina experienced a sense of great personal satisfaction. He was able to put all of the theory he’d absorbed through reading into practice. He could, in fact, perform delicate restorations to everyone’s satisfaction.

Today, Colina is on site at every job Old World Plastering takes on, and he is ready to put all of his talent and experience to work for your project. Call (513) 481-1122 today to learn more about his services.
