As many offices begin to reopen, the team at Aina Haina Dental Group in Honolulu, HI, is doing everything they can to keep their patients safe. They instruct every patient to wear a face mask, practice social distancing and use proper sanitation techniques in the office. If you have an appointment coming up, here’s what you can expect.

Before the Appointment

When scheduling a visit by phone, the team will ask if you’re showing signs of COVID-19, such as a cough and fever or shortness of breath. If you are, you’ll have to wait until the symptoms subside to book the appointment. You’ll also be asked of your travel history within the past two weeks, as traveling increases the risk of coming into contact with the virus.

During Your Visit

family dentistBefore entering the office, a staff member will take your temperature to ensure you don’t have a fever. They’ll also check your oxygen saturation, as people with COVID-19 tend to have low oxygen levels.

The dental team themselves are subjected to the same tests before working on any patient in the office every morning and afternoon to ensure everyone’s health and safety. They’ll also wipe down and spray  all the rooms using a hypochlorous acid fogger after every patient. This nontoxic disinfectant kills bacteria and the Corona viruses in 30 seconds. The staff will wear personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves, gowns and face shields while working on every patient. The air purifying system uses a HEPA filter and a UV light to disinfect the office of airborne contaminants.
