Your car’s side mirrors are essential for driving safely. They provide visibility for much of the roadway around your car. If the auto glass gets damaged, it becomes a safety hazard. Here’s a guide to your side mirrors, including how to use them and what to do if they get damaged.

How to Adjust & Use Your Side Mirrors

Properly adjusting your side mirrors allows you to see the areas on either side of your vehicle. To adjust them, sit in the driver’s seat of the car as you would when you’re driving. Then, locate the levers or buttons that adjust the side mirrors.

When driving, use your mirrors to safely change lanes and make turns. You should also scan all your mirrors approximately every five seconds as you drive.

What to Do if Your Mirrors Get Damaged

If your mirrors get damaged, you need to have them fixed right away. First, when it’s safe, find a place to pull over and assess the condition.

If the auto glass is cracked, it will need replacing. If the entire mirror has broken off the car, the entire part will likely need to be replaced, which will include rewiring the mirror.
