Installing sprinklers is a labor-intensive commercial plumbing job, but these systems are popular among homeowners and businesses that want to maintain and hydrate lawns. A well-designed system will control water usage and minimize the risk of leaks. Below are a few strategies to make sure you and your plumbing company do the job correctly.

How to Maximize Efficiency During a Sprinkler System Installation

1. Plan the Layout

Before installing a sprinkler system, measure the yard and determine how much coverage each sprinkler will provide. This will vary depending on which sprinkler heads the client chooses, as well as the water pressure that the plumbing system provides.

You should also plan around obstacles in the yard and utility lines in the soil to ensure the sprinklers do not damage anything. Detailed planning will help you optimize the placement of sprinklers so that the client can hydrate the area without wasting water.

2. Use a Vibratory Plow

Digging trenches to lay pipes is time-consuming. Commercial plumbing teams can speed up the process by using a vibratory plow to pull polyethylene pipe.

commercial plumbingAlthough a vibratory plow cannot break through compacted soil easily, it allows you to install pipes at a depth of 10 inches throughout most of the yard. All you have to do is feed the pipe into the hole as you pull. However, avoid using this equipment near tree roots or utilities, as it can break on these hard objects. Hand dig in these areas, instead.

3. Leak-Proof the Main Lines

While crimp clamps allow you to attach pipes to fittings securely, this process can compress part of the pipe. When this happens, the opening will be an oval shape that doesn’t have a secure connection with the fitting. When connecting main lines, install crimp rings on both sides of the fitting to address this problem. Double clamping will prevent pipe distortions and reduce the risk of leaks. This ensures that the client will not need to call you back for repairs after the installation.
