Set up a bright enough light source so that your face is clearly visible in the shot. Also, check what’s visible behind you in the frame. Anything messy, unappealing, or inappropriate may reflect badly on you, so tidy up or set up the camera facing a wall or bookshelf. These are images or videos which you can use as a backdrop to block out the view of what’s behind you.

3. Stay Focused

If you’re used to phone conferencing, you might be accustomed to multitasking during a meeting or doing activities like doodling that can make it appear that you’re not listening. Remember that in a video conference, everyone can see you, so avoid these activities to keep from distracting yourself and others. Act as though you’re in a face to face meeting, and sit up rather than slouching or lying down. Look at the screen or your camera while others are talking. Take notes if needed and if you want to type, mute your microphone so that the sound of keys doesn’t disturb other participants.
