What Can You Sew to Liven Up the Home?

1. Pillows

When you want to add a colorful accent to your bed or couch, consider making your own cases to slip over your pillows. When choosing fabric, look for something that will be soft under your head, wash well, and be beautiful.Or add a splash of color and texture if you are looking to perk up your surroundings!  While you can leave one side open to easily slip your pillow in and out of the case, as you graduate through your sewing classes, you can eventually add zippers. Call us and we will help you make the best choice for your project.

2. Window Coverings

sewing classesCurtains bring a new decorative element into a space. It is a wonderful and easy way to easily spice your room with a splash of color. In addition to reflecting your own style, curtains can also block sunlight that could be unnecessarily warming your house or causing your furniture to fade. Privacy can be increased with adding sheers or lace for that cottage feel.

3. Dining Room Textiles

Another easy way to tie your style into your home is by making a table runner and matching placemats. We offer many classes in sewn and quilted table runners so that you can have a unique centerpiece. These runners will likely catch guests’ eyes when you invite them to a meal and can be the basis of an interesting conversation. You can also make potholders, aprons and placemats to accent the colors and patterns you chose and marry your dining room and kitchen decor.

4. Quilts

When you want to make the living room or a guest room seem especially inviting and comfy, a quilt is an excellent focal piece.
