Moving is ranked in the top five of life stressors.  Another mind boggling number is the average times you will move in your lifetime…...11.4 times!!  There is nothing I dread more than the thought of packing and moving all my worldly possessions.  The word exhausting doesn’t even begin to describe how it makes me feel.

Now imagine, you wake up 5 to 6 times a week and think….hey I’m gonna move today!  I’m going to do so with a smile, great attitude and ready to deal with people who are stressed out, fighting, sad to leave and not prepared.  Welcome to a day in the life of a mover.

Okay, okay they chose this as their profession.  I get it, you are paying for the service and their muscle because you can’t or don’t want to do it either!  In no way am I being disrespectful to the people who help us pay for our groceries and electric.  Without you we wouldn’t be here.

So I asked the movers here at Wagoner Moving what would you like customers to know to be prepared for their move?  The list was surprisingly short and I heard the same points again and again.  So here you go!

  1.  Be prepared.  Packing done, pathways clear and items serviced.
  2. Boxes – mark the sides of the boxes not tops.  They carry several at a time and when they are stacked in the truck you don’t see the tops.  They can sort as they are unloading.  Lids shut and taped!
  3. Animals put away before they arrive!  Doors will be left open during the move process.  Even in the cold!
  4. Dresser drawers….while you can leave some lighter clothes in the drawers on local moves,  do not overload them with linens, jeans and towels.  Many drawers are made of press wood and it will not hold up. Not to mention a triple dresser will be stood on end and is heavy to begin with.  Take out your perfume bottles, jewelry and coins.  Only soft items please!
  5. End tables and night stands.  They must be packed out.  These pieces of furniture are stacked so they will be turned upside down.  Everything will fall out.

So there you have it.  Pretty simple.  I cannot say how much I appreciate my coworkers.  If you are moving in the Stark, Summit or surrounding counties or to another state, please give Wagoner Moving Systems/Atlas Van Lines a call.  We would love to handle your move for you!
