Owning a recreational vehicle is a wise decision for people who enjoy traveling. The home away from home on wheels is a solid return on investment due to the money saved by forgoing hotel stays and dining at restaurants. To prepare for your next adventure, below are three RV accessories to add to the shopping list.

3 RV Accessories You Shouldn’t Go Without

1. Dump Hose

RV accessoriesOne of the perks to owning a recreational vehicle is the onboard bathroom. At campgrounds and trailer parks, there are sewer systems on the grounds to empty the waste in RV septic tanks.

To pump out waste, you’ll need a dump hose. Connected to hookups for the grey water tank (the holding container for sink and bath water) and black water tank (which contains toilet waste), the hose filters waste to the sewer system. The hose should be at least 15 feet in length, as you don’t know how far away you’ll have to park from the sewer system hookup.

2. Globe Lights

Getting to know fellow travelers at an RV park is a memorable part of taking a road trip. While socializing on the grounds after dusk, you should place strings of globe lights along the vehicle’s awnings. The strands are RV accessories meant to enhance comfort and safety.

The bulbs will illuminate the space so you can see everyone around you. Once other travelers go to bed, keeping the lights on at night will deter anyone from tampering with your vehicle for fear of being discovered.

3. Surge Protector

As you can’t guarantee the electrical supply at the campgrounds you visit will be stable, you’ll need to bring along a surge protector. This will protect appliances, navigation systems, lights, and anything else that runs on electricity from overheating and burning out if there’s a surge from the power pedestal.
