Austin Arts Commission Chair and HLF Partner Lulu Flores shared a laugh with renowned Philadelphia mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar.
Lulu was visiting the City of Brotherly Love with her law partner who was there to defend the deposition of the incomparable Dr. Arthur Frank on behalf of a mesothelioma client o Hendler Lyons Flores, PLLC (discover more about the firm's mesothelioma practice here).
On a free day, Lulu decided to take her good friend Ave Bonar’s recommendation to visit the spectacular mosaic infused neighborhood on South Street known as Philadelphia’s Magic Garden. The line to get into the main building was half a block long, so instead of standing in line for who-knows-how-long, Lulu (and her faithful companion, full time valet and crime fighting sidekick, Scott Hendler) decided to explore the surrounding neighborhood. As we turned into an alleyway, we came upon the artist and his assistant beautifying more of the neighborhood. Leave it to Lulu; who else would have the good fortune to bump into the artist and immediately win him over!? Its her one of her superpowers (on of the others being fighting for truth and justice).
Lulu and I watched him work and then Lulu invited him to visit Austin to share some of his artistic vision with the Music Capitol of the World. He said, "Invite me! I'll come." So would his assistant!
As Lulu posed for a photo in front of an especially cool piece of his art—a mosaic of the magnificent Mexican artist Frida Kahlo—Isaiah playfully started to paint Lulu, and why not—a lot of people think she’s a work of art in her own right.
It was a fun afternoon and meeting the artist himself and seeing him in action was the icing on the cake. And Lulu continues to be a great ambassador of Austin's Art Scene around the country and the world. If you want to learn more about Lulu, check out her bio, and those of her law partners, here.
