Everyone loves curls...but if you don’t know how to work with them, it can be very frustrating and difficult to control the frizz and define the curl.  It can be too frizzy, uneven, or maybe you can’t seem to get it quite smooth enough. 

Living in Colorado means low humidity, so the good news is your style will stay in place when you make the effort, and with the right products, curly hair is so easy with just air drying.  But if you don’t  have the products and the know how, having your curls look shiny and defined can be difficult to achieve.

First, hydration is imperative to pretty curl, so a moisture based shampoo and conditioner are important.  Next, you need a curl creme or gel that you gently push and smooth into the hair.  Don’t finger it through or you will pull out the curl.  When you get the product evenly distributed, push and scrunch until you see the curl start to form.  Let it dry and then add some heat with a defuser if you need some volume.  Apply a shine serum as a final touch for a more polished look.  

Smoothing is more work, less product.  Use a vent brush and smoothing serum while removing 50% of the moisture out of the hair, and then heat, tension, and the cool button is your friend.  Using a large round brush, pull downward for a more slick look and over direct the brush upward for more volume.  When your section is dry, blast it with cool air for shine and smoothness.  This step makes such a big difference with giving your hair a polished finish without residual frizz.
