There are many trails and tracks in North Carolina just waiting for you where you can charge, skid, and jump your way across miles of scenic terrain. Check your gas and tires, and head out to one of these ideal off-roading destinations.

Where to Drive Your ATV or UTV in North Carolina

1. Busco Beach ATV Park & Campground

TiresLocated in Wayne County, this park is a top choice for variety. They have a full selection of mud pits, sandpits, hills to climb, deep-water crossings, woodland trails, and a variety of tracks, including one for beginners. Both tent and RV camping sites are available, and for your convenience, there’s also a concession stand, an air station, and hot showers. This site even hosts concerts and other entertainment.

2. Brown Mountain OHV Trails

If you want a tour through North Carolina’s beautiful forests, this is the site for you. Located in Pisgah National Forest near Collettsville, they have 34 miles of trails in over 13 square miles of natural forest. The trails are marked and maintained, with varying difficulties to suit your skill level. If you want to make a splash, there are seasonal mud pits to drive through.

3. Brushy Mountain Motor Sports Park

Another forest site near Taylorsville, this park has more than 100 miles of marked and well-maintained trails. They also offer separate motocross and mini tracks. They’re open Friday through Sunday and offer memberships for repeat visitors. When you’re finished, visit their hot showers to wash off. Just make sure that your off-road vehicle is kitted out correctly for the park—they require a tire tread depth of ¾ inch or less to prevent damage to the trails.
