You’ve been brushing your teeth since you were a young child and know that’s it’s an essential part of dental care. Although brushing might seem like a simple task, some people do it incorrectly and experience oral health problems because of it. Here are some tips for brushing your teeth properly.

4 Tips for Brushing Your Teeth Correctly

1. Clean All of Your Teeth

Some people make the mistake of only brushing the front surfaces of their upper and lower teeth. It’s important to clean all of your teeth, including the molars that no one sees. They’re particularly important to brush since they do most of the chewing, so there are likely more food particles on them.

2. Be Gentle

3. Brush Your Gum Line

Bacteria can build up along your gum line, so be sure to clean that area with your toothbrush every day. Put your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle against your gum line and gently brush the area.

4. Don’t Forget About Your Tongue

Food particles and bacteria can accumulate on your tongue too. The accumulated debris and bacteria can result in bad breath, which is why you should make tongue brushing part of your dental care plan. Scrub your tongue gently with your toothbrush in an up and down motion.
