When your tractor tires wear down and need to be replaced, that doesn’t mean they need to end up in the dump. They can be used around your farm for a variety of functional and entertaining applications. Below, learn more about what you can do with your old tires before buying new ones.

What Can You Do With Old Tractor Tires?

1. Make a Flower Bed

Tires are ideal for making raised flower beds. Simply lay them on their sides, fill the center with fresh soil, and plant whatever you want inside. The flowers will be held in place and protected from erosion by the rubber. Vegetables, herbs, a shrub, or flowering plants are all good options for a raised flower bed.

2. Hang a Swing

Old-fashioned tire swings add scenery to your landscape while also providing hours of fun for your children or grandchildren. Tie a thick, durable rope through the hole in the wheel and find a solid tree branch to hang it on. The swing should be high enough that it’s at least six inches off the ground.

3. Work Out

tiresUse the old rubber for exercise and physical training to build muscle mass. Flipping, carrying, and pulling the weight of these tractor parts will work a variety of core muscle groups. Be sure to stretch well before working out.

4. Create a Small Sandbox

If you have young children, paint the rubber bright colors and add designs or pictures, then lay it on its side in the yard and fill it with sand. Add a few sand toys, like buckets and shovels, and let your children have a blast.

5. Make a Wreath

Recycle these tractor parts by creating large wreaths to decorate your yard. You can even make a wreath for each holiday. For example, on Halloween, you can decorate the rubber like a giant pumpkin with orange paint and a green stem made from modeling foam and paint. For Christmas, paint it green, wrap red tinsel around it, and decorate the top with a large red bow and fake holly or poinsettias.
