With age, many people develop fine lines and wrinkles. If you feel less confident in yourself as a result, visiting a medical spa for skin treatments can reduce their appearance. From injections to laser treatments, there are more options for wrinkle reduction than ever before.

How to Reduce the Signs of Aging at a Medical Spa

1. Botox® Injections

One of the most common non-surgical medical spa procedures in the U.S., Botox injections temporarily paralyze facial muscles that cause wrinkles, especially in the forehead and around the eyes. Botox doesn't remove wrinkles, but it does reduce the appearance of “dynamic wrinkles”—those that appear when you laugh, smile, or make other expressions. It can also soften the appearance of deeper creases.

2. Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are often used in conjunction with Botox to create a more youthful appearance. Faces commonly become thinner and lose elasticity with age, causing wrinkles to become more pronounced. With a dermal filler, an FDA-approved gel is injected under the skin to give it a fuller, more even appearance and temporarily smooth wrinkles.

3. Laser Resurfacing

medical spaLaser resurfacing or rejuvenation involves using a laser to remove the top dermal layers and eliminate damaged cells. This creates more even, tighter, and younger-looking skin.

Depending on the type of laser used, recovery can take a few weeks, as with carbon dioxide lasers, or be almost instantaneous, as with erbium lasers that can remove deeper wrinkles. Laser resurfacing is also a good choice for reducing sun damage or acne scarring.

4. IPL Photofacial

Intense pulsed light (IPL) photo facials are similar to laser resurfacing, except they use a variety of light wavelengths to reduce wrinkles, scarring, and other imperfections rather than a single wavelength. The light is less focused, allowing it to penetrate more deeply without damaging the skin. The procedure reduces the look of wrinkles and fine lines by stimulating collagen production, which can help tighten and rejuvenate the complexion. Plus, it involves little to no recovery time.
