Portable toilets offer convenience and compliance for events and construction sites. There are several factors to consider when determining ideal placement for these facilities, including the flow of foot traffic and other nearby amenities. In particular, the following considerations are important yet frequently overlooked when it comes to placing rental toilets strategically.

What Factors Should You Assess Before Placing Portable Toilets?

1. Physical Barriers

While a location may seem ideal based on your event or construction site’s particular layout, it’s also important to assess whether the delivery truck can get to the destination. Physical obstacles such as mud, thick grass, and surrounding structures, such as concession stands or trailers, could make drop-off difficult or impossible in some cases, so select an area without any nearby barriers.

2. Distance From Pumping Truck

A technician would need to pump the toilet at regular intervals throughout the event and before picking it up. A toilet located at the back of a fenced-in yard might be too far for the pumps to reach, and the truck’s lifting mechanism may not be able to reach to pick it up, either. For this reason, aim to have your toilet placed no further than 15 feet from where a truck can travel.

3. Stake Locations

To prevent tip overs in the event of high winds, your portable toilet will be staked into the ground upon delivery. While many outdoor settings accommodate stakes, certain factors such as nearby concrete or pavement can impede their placement. Ideally, you should plan to have the toilet placed in a spot where stakes can be inserted into the ground, such as compacted soil or densely graveled areas.
