Many homeowners opt for vinyl siding because of its durability, cost-effectiveness, and versatility. It’s a low-maintenance product, so cleaning it annually keeps it in top shape. Here’s a brief guide on how to give the surface a facelift.

How to Clean Siding by Hand

Buy a heavy-duty cleaning product designed for vinyl siding or make your own solution by mixing 3 parts of vinegar with 7 parts of water.

Dip a soft cloth or soft-bristled brush into the cleaning solution and gently scrub the siding to dislodge dirt and grime. Apply only light pressure so the material doesn’t crack. Start from the highest point and work to the bottom to prevent streaking, then rinse with clean water.

How to Remove Mold

Apply the solution to the affected part with a cloth or sponge, letting it soak for around 20 minutes. Scrub the spot to remove the stains and rinse.

How to Use a Pressure-Washer on Siding

Pressure-washing is often easier and more efficient than scrubbing by hand, but only some manufacturers permit it. Review your product’s manual before proceeding.

To power-wash the siding, stand a few feet away from the house. Point the nozzle at eye-level with two hands. Using a side-to-side movement, wash the surface from top to bottom, working on small sections at a time.
