When your reach the final exit on the economic road and bankruptcy becomes your final option, you will probably consult with an attorney.  So what do you need to get ready for this consult.  From my experience, I would gather the following items and either bring them with you, or be in the process of obtaining them:

  1.  Your last two years tax returns;
  2. Your last seven months income statements from every source;
  3. Your car registrations and most recent loan payoff statement;
  4. If you own real estate, you will need from the land records of your town copies of the deed, mortgages and any liens and the most recent mortgage pay off statement;
  5. You should get a market analysis from a local R.E. agent;
  6. The names, addresses, amounts and acct. #s of all credit cards and creditors.

Although more may be needed, these documents will definitely help in a good analysis of whether or not you will qualify and allow you to get a fresh start.  If you have any questions, please call Attorney Mark O.
