With a heated pool, you can enjoy the water all year round. It also helps keep the water from freezing if it's cold, preventing damage. There are several ways to keep your pool warm or even hot, and you can install the solutions during a pool construction or afterward.

The Pool Construction Ideas & Accessories to Keep Warm

1. Passive Warming

Your pool naturally absorbs heat from the sun and the air throughout the day. Usually, some of the water evaporates, cooling the pool back down. Minimizing evaporation keeps the water warmer without any other kind of energy consumption.

To prevent evaporation, you can shield the pool from the wind; indoor pool construction is the most effective way to do this. You can also use a pool blanket to trap heat.

2. Solar Devices

There are similar devices specifically designed for your pool that pump the water through a large, flat horizontal area that's hot from the sun. You can also use solar panels to power a heating element.

The downside of solar is that it's least available when you need it most, in cold and cloudy weather and at night. On the other hand, it's eco-friendly and has little to no energy cost.

3. Heat Pumps & Exchangers

These devices are powered by electricity and apply heat directly to the water. Heat pumps work by absorbing heat from the air or the ground—even when it's cold outside—and transferring it to the water. Heat exchangers simply use electricity to warm up a water-resistant heating element. These options are the fastest way to heat a pool.
