While exercise is known to help you lose weight, it also has several other health benefits. As such, doctors recommend getting at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. This can take many forms—from jogging around your neighborhood to utilizing the weights and exercise machines at the gym. The guide below looks at some of the changes to your body that exercise can bring to give you the motivation to stick to your regimen.

The Physical Impact of Going to the Gym

1. Your Heart Gets Stronger

Your pulse rises while exercising. This is because your heart rate increases to circulate more blood to give your muscles the oxygen they need to work.

This strengthens the heart. It becomes more efficient at pumping blood, resulting in a lower resting heart rate. It also creates new blood vessels, which can lower your blood pressure.

A strong and healthy heart is less susceptible to heart disease, stroke, heart attack, or other similar cardiovascular conditions.

2. Your Muscles Get Stronger

As they knit themselves back together, they grow back stronger and larger. Over time, you’ll see your muscles grow and will be able to lift more weight.

Strong muscles give joints and bones better support. However, consider working with a personal trainer to make sure you do not overexert yourself in the pursuit of this goal, which could lead to injuries.

3. Your Brain Gets More Blood

Your increased heart rate sends more blood and oxygen to the brain. This wakes up your brain cells, helping you feel more alert and better able to concentrate after your time at the gym. It also triggers certain neurotransmitters, such as endorphins and serotonin, which reduce stress and naturally boost your mood.
