For those traveling to Japan for its breathtaking views and enchanting landscapes, Okinawa should be on your travel itinerary. Here are a few famous natural landmarks you won’t want to miss on a custom tour

5 Natural Landmarks to See in Okinawa

1. Gyokusendo Park

Gyokusendo Park, part of Okinawa World, is a prime spot to experience some of the island’s unique geography. Spanning five kilometers, Gyokusendo Cave is the second-longest in Japan. Visitors can tour 850 meters of the cave to see stalactites and stalagmites.

2. Kouri Island

Kouri Island, one of 160 that make up the Okinawa area, features an Ocean Tower with a gorgeous panoramic view of the surrounding islands and waters. Along with the stunning natural vista, you can purchase goods on the island made from natural resources, including pumpkin sweets and pineapple charcoal soap.

3. Ishigaki Island

The island is also home to Ryukyu Peak Center at Kabira Bay, Japan’s sole source for cultured black pearls and one of the most beautiful areas on the island.

4. Ryukyu Kingdom

The Ryukyu Archipelago, consisting of 140 islands, stretches from Kyushu to Taiwan and was once home to the Ryukyu Kingdom. Due to the area’s relative isolation, inhabitants of this area had a unique culture and language distinct from the rest of Japan. Some remnants of this ancient history live on today in Okinawa. The former capital of Shuri, which includes a castle overlooking the sea, is a popular stop for custom tours of the area.

5. Taketomi Island

Taketomi Island is surrounded by coral reefs. Take a ride in a glass-bottomed boat to get a closer look at them as well as several species of exotic tropical fish. Onshore, you’ll see beautiful homes with walls made of coral limestone and red-orange roofs.
