With summer just around the corner, now is the perfect time to schedule an installation of a brand-new air conditioning unit. If temperatures pick up before your installation takes place, you may find yourself sweating while at home. Fortunately, there are lots of steps you can take to stay cool until the installation takes place.

How to Keep Cool Before an AC Installation

1. Block the Sun

You might be surprised by how much the sun coming through your windows can increase interior temperatures. Starting early in the morning, hang heavy blankets or sheets over the windows to keep the sun from streaming in when it’s at its hottest.

2. Drink Plenty of Water

Cool, refreshing water is a must during summer. Water keeps you properly hydrated and prevents your body from overheating. Add ice cubes to glasses of water or keep bottled water in your refrigerator so it stays cool. Ice pops are other excellent choices on hot days.

3. Don’t Cook at Home

4. Take a Drive

Your vehicle’s AC is hopefully still functional. If so, take a break from your sweltering home by going for a drive. You can also visit an air-conditioned space, such as the mall or a grocery store. If possible, try to stay out until nightfall, when the temperature should be cooler in your home.
