An RV lets you explore the open road and nature without sacrificing comfort, and it’s a sizable investment that you want to protect. RV insurance will protect the vehicle and your wallet, but you need to know about the different coverage options to choose what’s best for you. Here are some choices to consider.

What Are the Options for RV Insurance Coverage?

1. Liability Coverage

Liability coverage is the most affordable option. It will cover the cost of another party’s medical bills and property damage if you get into an accident that’s deemed to be your fault. You can choose between different levels of liability, which determine how much you’re covered for monetarily.

2. Collision Coverage

This option covers the cost and medical bills for you and your family after an accident for which you’re at fault. The amount your policy will pay out can be variable based on the cost of your RV and what you can afford to pay as a premium.

3. Comprehensive Coverage

insuranceComprehensive coverage is often combined with collision and liability to provide total protection for the RV. On its own, comprehensive will cover any damage to the vehicle that’s not accident-related, such as debris and vandalism. What’s covered in a comprehensive policy may vary depending on the agency, so be sure that common threats in your area, like storms, hail, or fires, are included.

4. Full-Time Dwelling Coverage

This policy may be preferred or required if you live in the RV most or all of the time. It provides coverage that’s similar to home insurance rather than auto insurance. It may cover damage to belongings, thefts, break-ins, and repairs, and you may need a higher liability limit.
