About: This specific offering comes from the Gora Kone Washing Station, located in the village of Werka in the Nensebo district of the Sidamo region. The station itself has been in operation for seven years and has an estimated 800 contributing farmers registered for cherry delivery throughout the harvest period. These offerings are promptly sorted and floated to remove unwanted and unripe cherries. The prime selection is then depulped using a traditional disc pulper, washed, then dried for an average period of 10-12 days.
Cupping Notes: Rich cocoa flavor with grapefruit and savory cooked fruit flavors and lots of big tart acidity.
Roast: Kenya AA is a hard bean that takes all roasts well, but we think is best on darker end of the spectrum. Medium Dark (Full City) is nice just into 2nd crack. But don’t be hesitant to take this beauty to Dark (French Roast).
About: Kenyan coffees, for a lot of roasters, are showcase coffees, those that stand out above all others for brash acidity, ripe fruit, and rich sugars. We can all remember that first experience with a Kenyan coffee, how it floored us with gripping acid. For a long time, however, we’ve tended to paint all of Kenya with the same brushstroke, without digging in to see what each county could have to offer us as for diversity of flavor or profile.
This selection of AA coffees from various regions of Kenya is designed to be an affordable complement to our other offerings from that famed coffee-producing country."Tembo" is the Swahili word for Elephant, representing the strength and impact of these coffees in the cup.
