Whether you love to sew clothes, quilts, or decorative crafts, chances are you’ve accumulated a collection of fabric scraps. These pieces might be too small to use in many projects, but that doesn’t mean they have to go to waste. Try utilizing your fabric scraps for these four creative projects.

What Can Fabric Scraps Be Used to Make?

1. Mini Quilts

Quilts are a traditional way to utilize fabric scraps. However, a full-size design might not be feasible, depending on your material options. Instead, try making a small scrap blanket for a toddler or toy doll. If you’re extremely limited on the number of scraps at your disposal, try going smaller and making a potholder, bookmark, or coaster using the same design principle.

2. Hair Accessories

Scrunchiesfabric-dothan-AL are another easy way to utilize scrap fabric. Fold your fabric horizontally and in half with elastic in the middle; finish and sew the ends together to make a circle.

Test your creativity with hot glue and bobby pins or hair clips to create a unique accessory. Consider turning your scraps into fabric flowers or bows to put on your clips and headbands.

3. Basket

Fabric-covered baskets are a creative and practical way to upcycle scraps. These versatile household items can be used as storage to maintain an organized craft room or children’s bedroom. You can also use them as pencil and pen containers or for your makeup and other personal items.

4. Sachet

Small sachets and coin purses are some of the easiest crafts to create. If your scraps are large enough, cut out a rectangle to fold in half, finish the edges, and add a button, snap, or piece of VELCRO® to create a fasten. The sachet can be used to hold coins, makeup, or buttons. You might also use them as decoration, filling it with potpourri or cut and dried aromatics, such as lavender or eucalyptus.
