The Pandemic is real and so are the Silver Linings

In this era of the pandemic, there are many things we cannot do. Actors can’t perform when theaters are empty. Coaches can’t coach when games aren’t happening. https://bit.ly/WhenThereisNothingToCoach  Teachers can’t teach to empty classrooms. Newlyweds can’t dance at a joyous family celebration. The list of what we are unhappily enduring is endless. But, there are some silver linings -  the pandemic is allowing us to breathe cleaner air, connect again with old friends, “repair” closets filled with unused clothing and catch up on movies to name just a few.

One question everyone can ask themselves is, “what is possible for me today that wasn’t possible before?” Or, “how will I feel when I look back at the pandemic in my rear view mirror?”

For many of us during the coronavirus, days are spent working from home, getting teens to study and putting food on the table. Those tasks will take priority. But, the pandemic inevitably gives us a new perspective, a chance to reflect, and maybe time to slow down or do a random act of kindness. Some might be inclined to finally resolve a festering family dispute, pay more attention to our health, https://bit.ly/TakingCareOfYourselfDuringtheCoronavirus, spend more time with loved ones, or perhaps grow herbs in a garden.  Whatever it is we may choose to do, the effort to make things a little better doesn’t have to be big or even challenging – just meaningful.  And, being mindful about why it’s worthwhile will make it easier to do again and continue it in the future.

If fear or inertia has taken over, a coach can be helpful.  https://bit.ly/ResolvingToBeCoached  Even spot coaching for an hour can make a big difference in what we feel, think or do. And remember, the silver linings of this pandemic might be taking better care of ourselves, appreciating people we took for granted or taking a bike to work instead of a car.  Whatever it is, learning from the pandemic could mean a better you.
