Interested in traveling the country without leaving behind the comforts of home? Consider purchasing an RV—making sure your budget includes room for full coverage insurance. There are several motorhome options to choose from depending on your needs. Excluding trailers, RVs come in three different classes, explored in the guide below.

The 3 Primary Types of RVs

1. Class A Motorhomes

Class A RVs are the largest option available, making them preferred for large families or those who want a more luxurious ride. Ranging from 26 to 45 feet long, they can weigh as much as 30,000 pounds.

Possible amenities include king-sized beds, full-size appliances, and spacious bathrooms. And with their propane-fueled generators, they allow for easy off-grid camping.

2. Class B Motorhomes

Ranging from 17 to 23 feet, Class B RVs are essentially camper vans. Weighing up to 9,000 pounds, these nimble motorhomes are incredibly functional. Because they’re considerably easier to handle than Class A RVs, they’re ideal for the adventurous traveler who wants to chart their own path.

They get decent fuel economy and can fit in most parking lots. Their small size means you’ll have to sacrifice a few luxuries, but you can still include all the essentials, like a bed, toilet, shower, and cooktop.

3. Class C Motorhomes

Class C RVs are the perfect compromise between mammoth Class As and sleek Class Bs. Ranging from 20 to 30 feet and weighing up to 13,000 pounds, these motorhomes are usually supported by a truck chassis.

While not as maneuverable as camper vans, they can go where Class As can’t, while fitting most of the same amenities. And because they’re more affordable than Class As, rates for full coverage insurance tend to be cheaper.
