If you love classic cars, there are few projects as exciting as restoring one. However, you should take these ventures lightly. You should find a vehicle that’s worth both the money and effort. Vintage trucks, in particular, can be difficult to deduce, but the below guide will help determine where you should invest.

Which Vintage Trucks Should You Invest In?

1. Chevy® Cheyenne

The second generation of pickup trucks from General Motors Co.® ran from 1970 to 1972 and included the fan-favorite Cheyenne®. This notable truck has a two-tone exterior paint style; power windows, brakes, and steering; and an automatic transmission, all of which contributed to its car-like convenience.

The Cheyenne, in particular, is well worth the restoration process due to its resale value. In most cases, you can find one in decent shape for less than $5,000. However, with hard work and dedication, rare models with desirable drivetrain and package combinations have sold for as much as $50,000. Photo Brad Bowling

2. Dodge® Li’l Red Express

vintage truckDodge’s Li’l Red Express® was one of the fastest pickup trucks ever made when it debuted in the 1978 model year. With an impressive V-8 engine and 225 horsepower, it was available only on Dodge’s lightest truck chassis. Its power-to-weight ratio provides plenty of guts to haul materials or cruise at highway speeds. Dodge was producing the most popular version from 1978 to 1979, which was not only faster than other trucks on the market, but it was the fastest American vehicle made in 1978. File Photo

3. Hudson Pickup Truck

Many vintage truck lovers have a soft spot in their hearts for the Hudson Motor Car Co.® This classic, independent company was most notable for its success in creating early NASCAR race-winners such as the Hudson Hornet. However, in the 1930s, it broke from tradition and started building a line of pickup trucks, hitting its stride between 1946 and 1947. Many collectors consider Hudson’s vehicles from this time to be the most attractive. Today, you can buy one for around $6,500 and, after restoration, sell it for up to $45,000.
