Whether you have brand-new or used iPhone® as your daily companion, it’s undeniably a powerful piece of technology that fits in your hand. It offers a bevy of features that only get better and more integrated into the operating platform, one of which is the revamped Photos app. Here are a few neat tricks that will make your experience even better.

How to Make the Most of the Photos App

1. Do Quick Edits

If you enjoy tweaking captured snaps before sharing with others, do it through Photos rather than on third-party apps. You’ll find basic editing tools for cropping, rotating, straightening, and changing the photo’s aspect ratio for better framing.

There’s also a range of adjustable filters to switch up colors, tones, and hues, darkening or lightening the image as you wish. If this editing power isn’t enough for your creativity, you can always download extensions or compatible editing apps from the App Store® library.

2. Keep Snaps Organized & Private

Another major Photos app improvment in new and used iPhones is the enhanced privacy. Machine learning and algorithms have made it possible for your device to organize and curate pictures from the same set, event, or people—but it does this without syncing via iCloud.

If you want to hide certain pics from nosy people, tap on the photo then click on Hide in the Share function. You can still check them out in the Hidden Photos album by tapping Albums in the app—and unhide them later if you choose.

3. Create Slideshows for Sharing

Perhaps the best part is that you can edit what goes in the clip or slideshow—by adding or removing photos, putting in music, or adjusting transitions. Once you’re ready to show it off, click on the Share button to send via email, AirDrop®, or other messaging platforms.

4. Tag People & Places

Sometimes, having too many photos in the gallery can be confusing, especially if you’re trigger-happy with your iPhone. Fortunately, the Photos app comes with a feature that lets you tag people and places for faster sorting. If you want a particular loved one to be on top of the list, mark them as a favorite.

5. Search Without the Fuss

The tagging feature has made it easier to sift through thousands of snaps right on your phone thanks to the Search feature. Found at the right of the bottom tabs, Search allows you to type in a keyword to find what you need quickly.
