As the COVID-19 virus sweeps across the country, healthcare workers and nursing home staff are struggling to find masks and other critical equipment. To help protect front-line workers and the most vulnerable members of the community in Cincinnati, OH, Kramer's Sew & Vac is dedicated to coordinating with local organizations and supplying the necessary sewing materials to produce homemade face masks. In this challenging time, they’re thankful for the ability to do their part and give back to the community that’s supported them for so many years.

The Effectiveness of Homemade Masks

Homemade face masks are effective in slowing the spread of the virus. These can be made from a few layers of fabric and a little elastic, which provides enough protection to keep those infected with the virus from spreading it to others. Wear a mask if you must go out in public, whether you present symptoms of the coronavirus or not.

Kramer’s Sew & Vac Donations & Coordination

sewingWhile many people are willing to make face masks for essential workers and others, the right materials are increasingly difficult to come by. Elastic, in particular, is becoming scarce, which is why Kramer's Sew & Vac is glad to donate these vital supplies.

Since the outbreak began, they’ve been coordinating with a large operation and working hard to ensure home sewing volunteers have all the elastic they need. They’ve also been helping distribute the finished masks to those who need them most, like workers at many retirement homes, healthcare facilities, and other essential businesses. Hopefully, these efforts can help slow the spread of COVID-19, so life can eventually return to normal.
